The growing use of mobile devices and social networks among young people has generated a significant impact on society. While these devices allow us to stay connected and access a wide range of knowledge, they also carry negatives such as cyberbullying and digital gender violence. How does the use of social networks influence young people in the Valencian Community? Throughout this year, the province of Alicante has registered more than 5,000 complaints of gender violence, placing it in fourth place in all of Spain. These worrying data were revealed in a report by the General Council of the Judiciary on violence against women.
With the aim of studying the impact of social Buy Phone Number List networks on gender violence among young people, a group of researchers from the universities of Alicante, Tarragona and Murcia carried out a study titled “Digital gender violence in the young population of the Community Valenciana: prevalence, impact and reporting mechanisms on digital platforms. The study also revealed that, in most cases, female victims chose to block the aggressor and, to a lesser extent, make a report to the platform or company responsible. In addition, they sought help from their friends, family, and psychological professionals. Regarding the measures taken by institutions to address this problem, telephone number 016 of the Government Delegation against gender violence of the Ministry of Equality was the body best known by the respondents.
